چکیده

Collection of multiple resected proximal colon polyps >10 mm in size through a scope channel via aspiration following an endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) is difficult; thus, polyps are currently all grasped at once using net forceps. However, the simultaneous collection by net forceps makes it difficult to identify the accurate locations of all resected polyps. Therefore, we aimed to investigate a novel technique to identify the accurate location of resected polyps using colored ring-threads. A 58-year-old man was diagnosed with three ascending colon polyps approximately 10-mm in diameter. These polyps were located in the proximal colon and had the potential for cancerous components. The polyps were found to have an irregular microvascular pattern via narrow-band imaging magnified endoscopy. Thus, confirmation of the accurate location of each polyp was necessary because of the possibilities of subsequent additional EMR and surgery. Therefore, slight tattooing was performed in close proximity to each polyp. We prepared three types of colored and six sized ring-threads, such as white, purple, and black. After the local injection was performed and sufficient bulging was obtained, a white ring-thread 5-mm in diameter was clipped through the scope channel and fixed close to the first polyp. EMR was performed and included the clip

Complete biopsy resection of diminutive polyps.

BACKGROUND AND STUDY AIMS Cold biopsy forceps polypectomy (CBP) is commonly used for the removal of diminutive polyps; however, evidence for the efficacy of CBP is lacking. The aim of this study was to evaluate the adequacy of resection of diminutive polyps and to identify predictors for complete resection using CBP. PATIENTS AND METHODS This was a prospective study from a tertiary referral h...

Colonoscopically Assisted Laparoscopic Polypectomy—An Alternative to Right Hemicolectomy for Large Right-Sided Benign Polyps

Introduction: Laparoscopic assisted colonoscopic polypectomies have been well described in the literature and are well established in surgical practice, for removal of large, inaccessible, or flat based polyps. Laparoscope allows the endoscopist a serosal viewpoint and thus clear indication of perforation, in addition to enhancing endoscopic positioning through colonic mobilisation, facilitatin...

Prevalence, histology, endoscopic treatment and long-term follow-up of large colonic polyps and laterally spreading tumors. The Romanian experience.

AIMS We report the prevalence, histological aspect, endoscopic treatment and follow-up of colonic polyps of 2 cm or larger and of laterally spreading tumors (LSTs) in an eastern European country. METHODS All consecutive colonoscopies carried out over a 1-year period (3,856) in the Endoscopy Department of the 3rd Medical Clinic Cluj-Napoca were evaluated. Fifty-two polyps and 12 LSTs of >=2cm ...

Endoscopic hemostasis with endoscopic mucosal resection and multiple synchronous early gastric cancers: a case report

INTRODUCTION Endoscopic hemostasis for severe upper gastrointestinal bleeding due to tumors, such as gastrointestinal stromal tumors and malignant lymphoma, is temporarily effective. However, permanent hemostasis is difficult in many cases because of diffuse bleeding. CASE PRESENTATION A 60-year-old Japanese woman was admitted to our hospital with hematemesis. Endoscopy revealed multiple gast...

Colorectal polypectomy and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR): European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) Clinical Guideline.

1 ESGE recommends cold snare polypectomy (CSP) as the preferred technique for removal of diminutive polyps (size ≤ 5 mm). This technique has high rates of complete resection, adequate tissue sampling for histology, and low complication rates. (High quality evidence, strong recommendation.) 2 ESGE suggests CSP for sessile polyps 6 - 9 mm in size because of its superior safety profile, although e...
